A Night In Watching “Abbott Elementary”
Anne Hathaway and her spouse Adam Shulman marked their 11th wedding anniversary in an ideal manner: lounging on the sofa and binge-watching Abbott Elementary. Hathaway, who is 40 years old, recounted their intimate evening during the October 5 episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers. She mentioned that their initial plans were disrupted by severe weather conditions in New York City, leading them to opt for a night in their pajamas, or as she put it, they “re-pajama-ed.”
Hathaway expressed her contentment while cuddled up with Shulman, stating that during the third hour of watching Abbott Elementary, she felt incredibly happy and knew she was with the right person. The couple has two sons, Jonathan, who is 7, and Jack, who is 3.
The actress also looked back on how her relationship with Shulman, who is 42, began. She reminisced about a memorable week in 2008 when she was the host of Saturday Night Live, stating it was one of the most thrilling weeks of her life. Following her hosting gig, she flew to Los Angeles to shoot a film, and that’s when she and Shulman grew closer.
The pair initially met at the Palm Springs Film Festival in April 2008 through mutual acquaintances. Although Hathaway was in a relationship with Raffaello Follieri at the time, she knew instantly that Shulman was her soulmate. Follieri later served time in prison for defrauding investors, and Hathaway and Shulman officially started dating in November 2008. They got engaged in 2011 and were married on September 29, 2012.
In a 2017 interview with Elle, Hathaway spoke about how Shulman had positively influenced her life, stating that his unique love had changed her. She also mentioned that despite the societal narrative that women don’t need anyone, she needed her husband. Even though their 11th-anniversary plans were affected by the rain in New York City, Hathaway was content to stay indoors. She had previously told Harper’s Bazaar that she preferred a “mellow” guy, adding that while a mellow life might not make for an exciting story, it does make for a fulfilling life.
