Kramer Embraces Formula Feeding Without Regret
Celebrated actress and singer Jana Kramer has openly shared her choice of not breastfeeding her youngest child, Roman. In a candid Instagram Q&A on December 8, Kramer, aged 40, expressed her contentment with this decision. “I am not [breastfeeding] and he is perfectly happy,” she affirmed. Opting for formula feeding, she mentioned her preference for Dr. Brown bottles, a choice consistent with her previous experiences in motherhood.
Kramer, while holding Roman, who joined her family last month with fiancé Allan Russell, filmed a video for the Q&A. The infant was seen peacefully bottle-feeding. Kramer underscored her stance in the video’s caption, indicating she felt no shame in formula feeding, a departure from her past experiences with her other children.
Previously, on her “Whine Down” podcast in January 2020, Kramer discussed her reluctance to breastfeed her first child. She admitted a personal disinterest in breastfeeding, partly due to her discomfort with nipple contact. Despite her hesitation, she initially tried breastfeeding to meet her then-husband Mike Caussin’s expectations. However, the challenges she faced, including delayed milk production and the subsequent stress and criticism, led her to choose formula feeding.
Caussin, in a 2019 interview with Us, spoke about the positive aspects of formula feeding from a father’s perspective, noting it allowed him to be more involved in the feeding process.
Kramer and Caussin, who share two other children, Jolie (7) and Jace (5), went through a public journey in their relationship, including dealing with Caussin’s infidelity. They finalized their divorce in 2021, three months after Kramer filed for it.
Post-divorce, Kramer’s life took a new turn as she began a relationship with Russell. The couple announced their engagement in May, shortly before sharing news of expecting their first child together.
