Ice Spice, the 23-year-old rapper, recently shared her experience of working with Ben Affleck in a Dunkin’ commercial that has since gone viral. According to Ice Spice, whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston, Affleck is a “very, very comforting person to be directed by.” She added that his extensive experience in the industry made her feel “very secure” while working with him. Affleck, who is 51 years old, made Ice Spice feel at ease on the set and effectively guided the shoot. The commercial, which introduced the Ice Spice MUNCHKINS® Drink, was first aired during the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12.
In the ad, both Ice Spice and Affleck engage in a dialogue to brainstorm a new name for the drink. Affleck questioned the authenticity of connecting Ice Spice with Dunkin’, to which she responded, “I’m a Dunkin’ girl … Ice Spice, my fans are the Munchkins.”
During her interview with Variety, where she graces the cover for their Power of New York issue, Ice Spice also shared a humorous story about her interaction with Affleck. She mentioned that Affleck had a Batman figure in his office, which she found to be “fire.”
Ice Spice has not only been working with Affleck but also collaborated with Taylor Swift on the “Karma (Remix),” which was released in May. She revealed that the collaboration happened after her manager heard her discussing Swift’s Miss Americana documentary. Ice Spice was inspired by the documentary, stating, “you really do need to work hard, and not everything is going to be as easy as it seems.”
Taylor Swift also had words of praise for Ice Spice. She said that Ice Spice “impresses the hell out of me” and admired her dedication and focus. Swift described Ice Spice as “extremely professional without being cold” and “playful and fun without ever taking her eye off the prize.” She also noted that Ice Spice is clear about setting her own unique path in the industry while studying other artists’ careers.
