About Kristin Hardin
Kristin Hardin is a professional horse trainer, show jumper and founder of Kristin Hardin Stables, whose work has centered on developing the partnership between horses and riders for decades. She began riding as a child after her father won a horse in a raffle, and by her teenage years she was working with trainers, caring for horses and competing across the United States. At 15, she began accepting paid opportunities to ride horses for professional clients, establishing an early foundation for her career.
Hardin opened her business in 1987, creating a place for horses to be trained, developed and prepared for competition. Over the course of her career, she says she has worked with more than 10,000 horses, won more than 5,000 classes and competed on nearly 4,000 different horses in show jumping. Her approach emphasizes understanding each horse as an individual and building confidence, consistency, empathy and trust rather than focusing solely on results.
Her perspective on mindset extends beyond competition. Hardin teaches riders to put the horse first, think proactively, manage fear and approach challenges with honesty and common sense. She also hopes to encourage greater empathy toward horses and greater confidence among young people participating in sports. Through her experience, she explores how commitment, patience and a strong partnership can influence performance, relationships and personal growth. She views horses as teachers of calmness, empathy, consistency, responsibility, confidence, resilience, courage and perspective in everyday life, too.
