Frankel’s Take on Cohen’s Response
Bethenny Frankel, a former cast member of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” has expressed her astonishment at Andy Cohen’s seemingly dismissive attitude towards serious accusations leveled at Bravo. On her “ReWives” podcast episode on Thursday, November 2, Frankel, aged 52, spoke out. She suggested that Cohen might feel he’s beyond reproach.
Frankel’s remarks followed Cohen’s reaction to an Instagram post by @watchwhatcrappens, which made light of a Vanity Fair article exposing alleged racism by Ramona Singer and production’s lack of sensitivity towards Leah McSweeney’s battle with alcohol. Cohen responded to the post with a laughing crying emoji, a move that Frankel and others found dismissive.
Leah McSweeney, 41, who also contributed to the Vanity Fair piece, highlighted Cohen’s emoji response on her Instagram Story, indicating her disappointment by stating, “Andy thinks racism and addiction is hilarious. Good to know.” Kristen Doute, a former “Vanderpump Rules” cast member, echoed the sentiment of disapproval.
While Cohen has not publicly addressed the accusations, the fallout for Singer, 66, has been tangible. After a text message surfaced showing her use of a racial slur, Singer was removed from the BravoCon lineup. Sources have provided conflicting accounts regarding Singer’s absence from the event, with one claiming a “mutual agreement” and another stating Bravo made the decision without her consent.
Frankel also suggested that Cohen should consider not attending BravoCon, questioning why his reaction to the racism-related issue did not prompt a similar exclusion. She reflected on the pressure and scrutiny that comes with being in the public eye, a feeling she believes Cohen is now experiencing firsthand.
In the past, Frankel has been outspoken about her desire to unionize reality TV casts and crews, a stance that she feels has put her at odds with Bravo and Cohen. She has previously stated that this has led to a strained relationship with the network and its executives.
