From Fitness Model to Media Influencer
For many, the idea of managing a fitness empire, starring in a hit television show, and running multiple sustainable businesses sounds like a fantasy. But for Janna Breslin, it’s just another day in the life. Once known primarily as a fitness model, Janna has expanded her brand in powerful ways, becoming a public figure deeply rooted in health, wellness, and purpose-driven entrepreneurship.
The Power Couple Behind Modern Homestead
Today, she co-stars in the widely acclaimed series Modern Homestead alongside her husband and business partner, Evan DeMarco. The show, which chronicles the couple’s journey toward off-grid living and sustainable innovation, has attracted a global audience inspired by their unfiltered approach to life, love, and entrepreneurship. But what viewers don’t always see is the full extent of what Janna manages behind the scenes.
“A lot of people think we just show up on camera, but there’s so much more going on,” Janna says. In addition to filming Modern Homestead, she and Evan also run a suite of growing businesses that are making an impact on clean energy, regenerative agriculture, and home building. Among them: The Immortal Olive Oil, a high-polyphenol extra virgin olive oil sourced from water-efficient farms in Spain; ECS Thermal Batteries, which offer cutting-edge thermal energy storage for residential and commercial use; and Suber Shield, a cork-based insulation product.
A Mission Fueled by Family
Janna explains that their passion for building materials and renewable technology comes from a deeply personal place. “It’s about creating a better world for the next generation,” she says. “And for us, that’s not just theoretical. It’s very real.” At the heart of that mission is Evan’s daughter from a previous marriage. “She’s a huge part of our lives, and we want to make sure we’re doing everything we can to create a healthier, more sustainable future for her.”
Finding Connection Through Family Rituals
Balancing a demanding workload with the desire to be present at home hasn’t always been easy. One of the ways Janna and Evan stay connected as a family is through nightly board games. “Life, Catan, Clue—almost anything that keeps us engaged for an hour makes our time together special,” Janna says. “It’s become a ritual that grounds us after a long day.”
That family time extends into their weekends and downtime outdoors. Evan’s daughter, who plays a central role in their lives, especially loves camping and hiking. “It’s important to Evan that he models a life away from technology while still helping her understand that it has a place,” Janna explains. “We try to create balance. Some weeks are better than others, but we always come back to those moments that matter—whether that’s around the campfire or a board game table.”

Living the Philosophy
That philosophy of presence also ties into Janna’s larger life motto: Get the F*ck Outside. She and Evan make it a point to spend as much time outdoors as possible—whether it’s hiking, camping, or simply enjoying a quiet morning coffee under the sky. “Nature grounds us,” she says. “It reminds us why we’re doing all of this in the first place.”
Morning Rituals, Fitness, and Finding Balance
Mornings are sacred to Janna. “I like to ease into my day with a great cup of coffee and some quiet,” she shares. “Evan’s up at 4 a.m. grinding, and I usually roll out around 7. We laugh about it, but we make it work.”
Despite the chaos, fitness remains a cornerstone of her lifestyle. She hits her CrossFit gym four to five times a week when she’s home, and when she’s traveling, she’s either breaking a sweat in a hotel gym or on their farm-turned-TV-set. “It’s about consistency, not perfection,” she says.
Navigating Fame and Protecting Privacy
With fame comes recognition, and Janna admits that privacy can sometimes be a challenge. “Most people are super respectful, but there have definitely been a few moments that made me uncomfortable. It comes with the territory, but it still throws you off.”
Recently, Janna attended Operation Blacksite, an intensive event focused on personal resilience and threat awareness. “It completely shifted my mindset,” she says. “I never realized how much of a liability my phone was—how we’ve become these walking zombies, heads down, totally unaware of our surroundings.”
The experience opened her eyes to just how much everyday tech can compromise safety and awareness. “I think this kind of situational training should be mandatory for kids. The younger they understand the dangers of technology and the importance of being aware, the better off they’ll be. We try to lead by example, and that means being intentional about when and how we use tech.”
The Foundation of a Strong Relationship
As for her relationship with Evan, Janna says intentionality is key. “We have a few non-negotiables. Time away from each other is a must—when your lives are so intertwined, getting some space, even for a couple of hours, is essential. And we prioritize intimacy. When you’re juggling this many things, it’s easy to put that part of your relationship on the back burner. We make time to make time.”
Beyond intimacy, one thing they really value is their twice-a-year goals retreats. “I actually got the idea from Dwayne Johnson,” Janna shares. “Twice a year we get away for a long weekend—no phones, no distractions—and use that time to connect on goals: personal, relational, and business. We talk through problems and plan the next six months. It really helps connect us in ways I didn’t realize were possible. When we’re aligned, we are unstoppable.”
Building a Legacy, Not Just a Brand
What drives her through it all? “A better world. Creating jobs. And creating EBITDA. In that order,” she says with a laugh. But make no mistake—behind the calm composure is a woman on a mission. One who embodies not just the modern woman, but the future of conscious leadership.
“At the end of the day,” Janna reflects, “we’re not just building a brand. We’re building a life. One that hopefully leaves a mark for the people we love, and for generations to come.”
