Showrunner offers insight into the Last of Us

Regarding The Last of Us upcoming second season, Craig Mazin has offered some good news.

In January, the Last of Us, the dystopian thriller television series that is based on the same-named computer game debuted. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey play survivors of a devastating global fungal virus that wiped out humanity 20 years earlier in this film.

The Last of Us is one of many projects that have been on a development hiatus as a result of the Hollywood strikes, despite being renewed for season two almost immediately after the popularity of its debut episode.

The showrunner of the Last of Us, Mazin, revealed in a recent interview that the team will be prepared to resume production as soon as the strikes are over because important season-related advancements were made before work stopped.

Since May 2, 11,500 TV and movie writers and script editors on the Last of Us, who are members of the WGA union have been on strike.

Sag-Aftra, the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, also started picketing on July 14 and demanded, among other things, more equitable pay rates and restrictions on the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Hollywood has essentially shut down as a result, with no union members able to film, write, or promote any projects for a company that the protesting groups are protesting.

Without breaking the strike’s restrictions, Mazin has been able to retain certain crew members employed throughout this time. The team won’t be able to start filming the new season of The Last of Us on the originally scheduled dates.

The companies’ failure to accede to the unions’ demands during the Hollywood strike has hampered the creation of various projects. It is believed to have played a role in the cancellation of numerous TV shows that were once expected to return for many seasons.

Both The Peripheral, starring Chloe Grace Moretz, and the queer women’s baseball comedy-drama A League of Their Own were cancelled last week, despite second seasons having been acquired by Amazon Prime Video.

Other productions aside the Last of Us impacted by the strikes

Major movies now in development, such as the Avatar and Gladiator sequels, appear to be at risk of being impacted by Hollywood actors going on strike.

Red-carpet premieres of promotional events like the Disney movie Haunted Mansion, which will be released later this month, may also be impacted.

There is a chance that events like the Emmys and Comic-Con will be postponed or reduced back.

At midnight in LA, almost 160,000 performers ceased working in the largest industry shutdown in more than 60 years. Picketing will start outside of Netflix’s California offices on Friday morning and then move to Paramount, Warner Bros., and Disney.

Most US film and television projects came to a halt after the Writers Guild of America (WGA) announced a similar strike action.

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) is urging the top streaming services to accept a more equitable profit split and improved working conditions.

Additionally, it aims to safeguard actors against being replaced by digital clones.

The union wants assurances that actors won’t be replaced by computer-generated looks and voices or artificial intelligence (AI).

Actors are unable to work during the strike and are even unable to promote their own films.

Other projects that could be impacted include the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-starring Deadpool 3 as well as the Beetlejuice sequel from Tim Burton and the Wicked movie.

The Second Season of Netflix’s The Sandman, Family Guy, and The Simpsons on Fox, as well as HBO’s The Last of Us and House of the Dragon, could also be impacted by the strike.

The strike was announced on Thursday night as actors Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon, and Emily Blunt departed the London premiere of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

Christopher Nolan, the film’s director, informed the theater crowd that they were “off to write their picket signs” and said he supported them in their fight.

The strike will make a significant amount of work for movies in production difficult. Actors won’t be available for reshoots or other crucial steps in the filmmaking process, even when filming has already been finished.

TV series that are still in production would likewise mainly have to cease, but in certain situations, producers and actors may strike side agreements to keep things moving.

Strikes: Is Hollywood self-destructing?

The ongoing Hollywood strikes will mess a lot of things up this year. And here is why:

When they returned to the Venice Film Festival near the end of the pandemic in September 2021, a group of newly immunized, tested, and disguised film critics visited the Lido to watch a stellar lineup of movies, including the sci-fi epic Dune, director Jane Campion’s homoerotic western The Power Of The Dog, and the tense feminist autobiographical tale Happening. At the moment, it appeared like film had successfully weathered the awful storm of the preceding 18 months, and only better times could be on the horizon. However, two years later, as the industry hits the Lido once more starting from today, it is sadly in a state of disarray due to a completely new issue.

Negotiations to end the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike are still going on as of right now; however, both parties are blaming the other for being difficult. The strike has been going on since early May. Hollywood has been brought to its knees by labor issues involving both actors and writers, with production on the majority of its movies and television shows delayed. To make matters worse, on July 14, SAG-AFTRA (the Screen Actors Guild) joined the strike.

The film festivals that make up the autumn season will also feel significantly different as a result of the strikes. The bulk of Hollywood films having their world premieres there won’t have any actors or writers walking the red carpet or doing publicity because of union strike rules. The consequences of this could be profound for some of the more significant Hollywood movies, including David Fincher’s The Killer, starring Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton, and Bradley Cooper’s Leonard Bernstein biopic Maestro, in which he co-stars with Carey Mulligan. None of the aforementioned actors will be attending Venice, including Cooper, who, despite being both a director and an actor, will not attend in support of SAG-AFTRA.

A star-free promo trail

The absence of these films’ stars from their promotional material is extremely concerning for everyone involved, as Erik Anderson, editor-in-chief of AwardsWatch, who tracks Hollywood’s award season and forecasts its results, tells BBC Culture: “What is crucial about actors promoting their work first and foremost is visibility. Many viewers simply aren’t aware of new movies and television shows until they’re here in the era of streaming and commercial-free television.

The removal of two extremely famous movies from the autumn schedule is most likely due to this. Last week, it was revealed that Dune: Part Two, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Florence Pugh, would be rescheduled from November to March 2024. Prior to that, Luca Guadagnino’s romance drama Challengers, starring Zendaya, has already renounced Venice’s coveted opening night slot and postponed its release to April 2024.

The Venice Film Festival, which is renowned for kicking off the awards season and last year debuted major award winners The Whale, Tár, Blonde, and The Banshees of Inisherin, is in a precarious position right now. With the exception of Challengers, the festival asserts that the strikes had no effect on its schedule. However, the 80th festival is releasing movies with a hazy future, in addition to Maestro and The Killer, as well as new works by Oscar winners Yorgos Lanthimos, Sofia Coppola, Wes Anderson, Michael Mann, and Richard Linklater. Since actors are prohibited from attending award shows due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, Erik Anderson argues that these films would benefit from award attention and that, if a fair resolution isn’t reached by the end of the year, the January shows (Emmys, Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice) might amount to little more than press releases.

What difference does the strikes make

However, not all is lost because red carpet elegance is not completely outlawed as a result of the strikes. One reason is that non-US films are exempt from the strikes, therefore new works by directors like Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Pablo Larran, and Nikolaj Arcel are not subject to the same limitations. Additionally, not all US movie studios are being hit because of temporary agreements between the unions and some US producers. Therefore, not only are studios like A24 and Neon able to continue producing movies, but certain festival-bound titles, like Michael Mann’s Ferrari and Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla, can provide the complete Venetian premiere, complete with press. Stars like Adam Driver, Jessica Chastain, and Mads Mikkelsen will still be spotted in their fancy clothes as a result.

Even if the strikes finish in time for Hollywood to resume regular operations in time for the Oscars and other major events, the damage that will have been done in the interim may still be seismic, and the repercussions for the studios may go well beyond the rescheduled premiere of Dune: Part Two.

£6m Beatles memorabilia goes for auction

One of the most expensive Beatles auctions ever will include the sale of items this month, including a collection of documents from John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s 1969 peace demonstration.

Memorabilia having a maximum estimated value of $8 million (£6.3 million) will be put up for auction online. There are clothes, speakers, signed contracts, a piece of the TV set wall that served as the backdrop for the Beatles’ historic performance on the Ed Sullivan Show, and an odd birthday card from George Harrison to his caregiver addressed to “Adolf Schinkengruber.”

GottaHaveRockandRoll auctions in New York will host the auction.

The bed-in material offers the fascinating tale of an enterprising teenage admirer who blagged her way into the bedroom and secured an interview in addition to offering insights into Lennon and Ono’s mental state.

Gibraltar was the location of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s marriage in March 1969; he cited Gibraltar’s “quiet, British, and friendly” qualities as the reason for his decision. After spending a few days in Paris, they boarded Lennon’s white Rolls Royce and traveled to Amsterdam to start their bed-in, a week-long peace demonstration held against the backdrop of the Vietnam War. Journalists were welcomed in to interview the pajama-clad pair, turning it into a major media event.

Constance Vrijdaghs, a 16-year-old Beatles devotee, was reading all of this in her upstairs bedroom. She made the decision that all she needed to do was get from the village of Aerdenhout to the Amsterdam Hilton. When she arrived, she began conversing with children who were gazing up at the rooms that had “Hair Peace” and “Bed Peace” banners posted inside of them.

If someone had tried to enter the room, Constance questioned. Everyone’s rejection gave her the confidence to enter the hotel, calmly inform the doorman that she was there for coffee, and then sprint to the elevator to press the button for the ninth level.

A porter stopped the doors from closing in time to catch her. She revealed: “I am from the Dutch Beatles Fan Club and I would like to congratulate John and Yoko on their marriage and I am here to interview them.” as she produced her membership card for the Beatles Club Fan Club.

The girl was taken out of the elevator and instructed to wait while a call was made upstairs because the porter had doubts. Two Dutch Beatles record company employees from Bovema arrived twenty minutes later and led her to room 902, the presidential suite, on the ninth floor.

Constance congratulated the newlyweds on their union while chatting with them from the edge of the bed till it was signaled that time was up. Constance asked whether they would respond to inquiries she would send up from the hotel lobby before leaving. Naturally, they responded.

119 lots

The archive of the materials used in the peace protests will be sold on September 22 and is expected to fetch between $200,000 and $300,000. Total, there are 119 lots. They also contain a card that will support the notion that George Harrison harbored an unhealthy fascination with Hitler.

Harrison was successful in his lawsuit against a US tabloid for publishing excerpts from a biography claiming he was enamored by Hitler. “Beatle George is a big Nazi fan,” read the headline.

Harrison wrote the card to the person in charge of looking after his Hawaii estate and is selling it. Happy birthday, dear friend! It is written in German and signed, “from Adolf Schinkengruber – George, Olivia, and Dhani” (Hitler’s father’s birth name was Schicklgruber). Hitler is depicted in a drawing in it.

According to the auction house, it might imply “a certain degree of intrigue” that sparked the reports that were subject to legal dispute. Perhaps it was just an allusion to the housekeeper’s tight rules at Harrison’s Hawaiian manor, it reads.

The purchaser will have to reach their own judgment. They expect to pay between $20,000 and $30,000 for the card.

Seeking Expert Guidance: Which Spring 2023 Runway Trends Will Withstand the Test of Time?

Discovering the first glimpses of the spring 2023 fashion trends, the fashionistas were immediately captivated. The upcoming season brings a sense of power and confidence, allowing individuals to define their own sexy version.

A seductive energy was emanated from form-fitting knitwear and sheer layers, while classic spring items like poplin dresses and straw bags were given a new level of allure. The fashion fan left the September shows with a strong desire to buy clothes for the upcoming season.

However, as time went on and the spring collections entered the stores, the fashion aficionado discovered that she needed direction. She solicited the advice of industry professionals from MatchesFashion, 24S, and Italist to determine which runway trends would stand the test of time and remain in style in the future.

The fashion enthusiast was interested in discovering motifs with charisma and longevity, such as fabrics, silhouettes, and styling with a fresh, new-season sparkle that could stand the test of time. After all, she wanted a fashion moment to last if she was going to invest in one.

The specialists didn’t dishearten, giving proposals to the spring sack patterns and apparel minutes that merited putting resources into. The style devotee was eager to find that the patterns recognized by the specialists were both one of a kind and reasonable, making for a flexible closet.

She was able to comfortably navigate the variety of possibilities offered in stores with their help and choose the items that would be both stylish and useful for the upcoming seasons.

Spring Suiting

As the fashion enthusiast donned her new spring wardrobe, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction in knowing that her purchases were not only trendy but also timeless. She looked forward to the coming seasons, knowing that her wardrobe was filled with pieces that would remain relevant for years to come.

According to Maud Barrionuevo, chief buying and marketplace officer at luxury retailer 24S, suiting is back in full force for Spring 2023. Designers showcased blazers and trousers tailored for warmer weather on the runways, taking inspiration from Savile Row.

Barrionuevo notes that investing in a suit is a wise decision, especially in a bright color like Jacquemus’s sunny saffron. The linen fabrications and cheery colors exude a definitive spring vibe, but the timeless shapes are not going to lose their power dressing appeal anytime soon. It seems that suiting is here to stay, with a fresh and modern twist for the upcoming season.

Sheer Layers

According to Italist CEO Diego Abba, the transparent and semi-sheer tops, dresses, and skirts from Miu Miu to Rick Owens are worth adding to your shopping cart, even if they feel slightly intimidating. Abba notes that semi-sheer clothing is an excellent way to look polished and ethereal while still being light and breezy.

The expert in luxury fashion suggests that one should use long-sleeved, transparent tops, like those from Saint Laurent, as a foundation for layering or use a silky, see-through coat or dress as the main focus of an outfit, such as Herno’s trench coat or one of Prada’s numerous translucent dresses.

Whichever option you choose, these pieces add a dreamy level of texture to your transitional weather outfits. Abba advises that these items are most appropriate when the climatic conditions are just right—not too hot and not too cold. However, with the proper layering, these pieces can be worn in a range of temperatures.

While transparent and semi-sheer clothing may seem daunting, Abba assures us that they are worth the investment. These items offer versatility, as they can suit both casual and formal occasions depending on how they are styled.

Whether you opt for a delicate blouse or a full-length dress, the sheer fabrics add an element of sophistication and allure to any outfit. So, don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and embrace the sheer trend this season.

Cross-Bodies

Cross-body bags have long been a staple in the fashion world, offering a hands-free option for those on the go. However, this season’s offerings are getting a glamorous upgrade with embellishments and luxurious materials.

Liane Wiggins, head of womenswear at MatchesFashion, notes that the best cross-body bags combine craftsmanship with everyday wearability, resulting in a 22 percent increase in Matches’ buy for cross-body bags this spring/summer 2023.

One of Wiggins’ personal favorites is the Simone Rocha bow-trim nylon style with faux pearl embellishments, which combines fashion and function. Other standout options include the star-spangled paillette-coated bag from Paco Rabanne and the crystal-laden update to JW Anderson’s bumper bag.

These gussied-up bags aren’t just for cocktail attire occasions, as they can be incorporated into everyday outfits with a touch of spring 2023 flair. Take inspiration from Simone Rocha’s runway styling by cradling your bag in the crook of your arm, evoking images of diving into the ocean after oysters carrying pearl embellishments.

While the functionality of cross-body bags is what initially draws us in, the added embellishments and luxurious materials elevate them to a statement piece in any outfit. So, go ahead and invest in a cross-body bag that combines fashion and function, and move through life hands-free in style.

Racing Jackets

The fashion world is revving up its engines and embracing its inner biker chick this season. References to the checkered-flag, dirt-track world of motorsport permeated collections from Dion Lee, Raf Simons, and Versace, and it’s a look that’s not just limited to the spring/summer season. According to Diego Abba, CEO of luxury retailer Italist, welcoming your inner biker chick can be an all-year-round show.

“Not only is it a timeless style rooted in Americana, but it lends any wearer a little more high-fashion attitude,” he explains. Moto jackets are the perfect entry point into the look, with bright leather color-blocking or touches of denim.

They pair as easily with cargo jeans as they do with a sinuous slip dress. This season’s moto jackets often feature standout details such as fringes, tassels, and embroidery, elevating the classic style into a more daring and statement-making territory.

But the moto jacket is just the beginning. To really get over the styling finish line, Abba suggests pairing it with some standout accessories. “Pair it with Moschino’s biker heart clutch or MISBHV’s monogram biker shorts,” he suggests.

All-Denim

As the spring season starts, it’s time to rethink your wardrobe, and denim seems to be the go-to fabric this year. According to Maud Barrionuevo, chief buying and marketplace officer at luxury retailer 24S, denim is the fabric of the moment. Denim is making its way back into fashion’s spotlight, and designers are giving it a fresh and modern twist.

From oversized denim jackets to denim jumpsuits, the runways were brimming with all kinds of denim pieces. Conner Ives, a LVMH Prize Finalist, has even launched a line of printed denim pieces to wear together or separately.

The denim-on-denim trend is still going strong, and oversized proportions are in. You can double up with a slouchy denim work shirt and a street-style approved denim maxi skirt, or you can go for a baggy, wide-leg jean that you can wear with any top.

Denim is a versatile fabric that can work in almost any situation. Whether you’re heading to work or out with friends, denim has got you covered. It’s just right for dressing up or down, and it’s easy to wear in any season. Denim is a timeless fabric that never goes out of style, and the denim pieces you buy now will be a great investment for the future.

Incognito Vibe Bags

The era of flashy logos on handbags seems to be waning, and in its place, understated luxury is taking center stage. The newest must-have bags for spring and summer 2023 are not adorned with loud logos or flashy embellishments, but rather they are stylish and sophisticated with a focus on craftsmanship and design.

Liane Wiggins, head of womenswear at MatchesFashion, says that the most popular bags of the season are those that are luxurious, yet understated. She notes that customers are looking for bags that are recognizable by their shape, color, and quality, rather than by a flashy logo or monogram.

Two of the standout bags of the season, according to Wiggins, are the Lemaire Croissant bag and the Bottega Veneta Andiamo bag. Both bags have simple, elegant designs and are made from high-quality materials.

The Croissant bag, with its crescent shape and soft leather construction, is a versatile option that can be donned as a shoulder or crossbody bag. The Andiamo bag, on the other hand, is a roomy, slouchy tote that is perfect for carrying all your essentials.

What sets these bags apart is their subtle luxury. They are made with the highest quality materials and expert craftsmanship, yet they don’t scream for attention. They are perfect for the woman who values quality and style over status symbols.

Revuelto by Lamborghini: The Next Generation of Supercars, with a New Gasoline Engine and Innovative Features

With the introduction of the Revuelto, Lamborghini’s first-ever plug-in hybrid supercar, the market for premium sports cars is about to be upended.

This high-performance car delivers a variety of driving experiences, from the quiet and smooth to the loud and savage, thanks to its combination of a V12 gasoline engine and three electric motors.

Although Lamborghini has a long history of building powerful gas-powered automobiles, the Revuelto ushers in a new era for the company. It was only a matter of time before Lamborghini followed suit as more nations around the world phased out gasoline-powered cars in favor of electric and hybrid vehicles.

The Revuelto is built to provide the best of both worlds: the gasoline engine delivers the kind of high-powered performance for which Lamborghini is renowned, while the electric motors provide quiet, efficient, and smooth low-speed driving. The vehicle will provide enthusiasts with an exciting driving experience thanks to its total of 1,001 horsepower.

The Revuelto, though, is a technological marvel and more than just a hybrid sports car. Everything in the automobile is brand-new, according to Lamborghini, even the gasoline engine, which was created especially for this model.

The vehicle also has a number of cutting-edge technologies, such as 13 various drive modes that let the driver adjust the vehicle’s performance to their own requirements.

The Revuelto’s environmental credentials are among its main advantages. The vehicle’s hybrid powertrain improves efficiency and reduces pollution compared to a conventional gasoline-powered sports car.

For drivers who wish to experience high-performance driving without compromising their environmental beliefs, this makes it the perfect option.

Revuelto

Of course, all this technology and performance doesn’t come cheap, and Lamborghini has yet to reveal the price of the Revuelto. But for those with the means to afford it, this car promises to be a game-changer in the world of luxury sports cars.

With its unique blend of performance, technology, and environmental responsibility, the Revuelto is sure to turn heads and set pulses racing when it hits the roads.

One of the most striking features of the car is the orientation of its engine, which points towards the back to make room for battery packs.

This unique arrangement solves a difficult engineering challenge, allowing the car to maintain ideal weight distribution despite the addition of heavy batteries. With 44% of its weight on the front wheels and 56% on the back, the Revuelto is perfectly balanced for high-performance driving.

But the engine orientation isn’t the only innovative aspect of the Revuelto’s powertrain. The car also features three electric motors – one powering the gasoline engine and two powering the front wheels – for a total output of 1,001 horsepower.

This allows the car to achieve all-wheel drive and “torque vectoring,” in which differing amounts of power are sent to each front wheel as needed for optimal cornering and traction.

The car’s batteries can be charged through a plug, like an electric car, providing a certain amount of purely electric driving. However, Lamborghini has not revealed how long the car can drive on battery power alone.

When the batteries are depleted and unable to provide enough power for electric driving, the car will function as a regular hybrid and switch between gasoline and electric power as necessary. Additionally, the batteries can be recharged through regenerative braking or by utilizing power from the gasoline engine in certain situations.

Carbon Fiber Composition

To save weight, the car’s body is largely made from carbon fiber, with rear structures made from aluminum alloys. Even the new V12 engine is slightly lighter than the one in the Aventador supercar it’s replacing.

All these innovations come at a cost, of course. Lamborghini has not yet revealed the price of the Revuelto, but it’s sure to be a high-ticket item. For those with the means to afford it, however, the Revuelto promises to be an exceptional driving experience, blending cutting-edge technology with the raw power and performance that Lamborghini is known for.

The Revuelto is a plug-in hybrid and has three electric motors and a V12 gasoline engine. The car can produce a total of 1,001 horsepower and has 13 different drive modes altogether.

While cruising, the car will be fully electric, and while driving aggressively, it will use all the available power from the V12 engine and electric motors. The price of the car has not yet been announced.

In the past, Lamborghini’s V12 models had the engine’s power sent towards the front of the car, and the transmission was between the two seats. However, in the Revuelto, the engine points towards the back to make room for battery packs, allowing the car to maintain ideal weight distribution.

Two electric motors power each of the car’s front wheels, providing all-wheel-drive, and differing amounts of power are sent to each front wheel as needed for optimal cornering and traction. The batteries can be charged through a plug and can be recharged when braking or by taking some power from the gasoline engine.

Hybrid Model

Lamborghini’s other, less expensive supercar, the V10 powered Huracán, will be replaced with a plug-in hybrid model. Lamborghini’s SUV, the Urus, will also become a plug-in hybrid but will not be replaced with an entirely new model.

The plug-in hybrid supercars will be built on the same assembly line at Lamborghini’s headquarters and share more parts with one another than they do today. However, the cost of the shift to plug-in hybrid power is not offset by the sharing of parts and production lines.

The new supercars will cost significantly more than the models they replace, and the price of the Revuelto has not yet been announced. The Urus SUV, which is produced in higher volumes than the supercars, will continue to be built in a separate factory.

The floor space freed up by putting the plug-in hybrid supercars onto a single assembly line could be used to build Lamborghini’s next new model, a full electric car expected to be unveiled in 2028. Given current battery technology, an electric Lamborghini supercar is not possible because the batteries are too heavy.

The Cost of News Paywalls

Columnist Scott Simon presents a commentary on the rising number of paywalls in front of news articles and general information that used to be free to consume.

A lot of them range from $1 subscriptions to $3 subscriptions, which then becomes $11.99 a month afterward.

“I have a strong, even personal interest in paying journalists fairly. But the cost most people have to pay these days if they want to try to stay informed and enrich their minds with a range of opinions is pretty steep,” Scott Simon remarks.

Simon claims that it’s even harder to read one article or two in most publications. Websites like The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Des Moines Register, Ebony, The New Yorker, The Economist, Rolling Stone, The Nation, and National Review all prompt you to subscribe.

“And of course, there are proliferating newsletters and extra-access-plus plans, as news broadcasters begin their own subscription services. They don’t crave an audience, so much as what they call a ‘customer base,’ Simon adds.

On the other hand, Jack Shafer wrote in Politico, “You can’t do much web grazing of quality content these days without a paywall clanging shut on you. What delights publishers about subscriptions is what everybody from Amazon to Spotify to the Dollar Shave Club to Netflix love — the annuity-like reliability of steady revenue.”

Simon points out that the cost of having these paywalls is that news, information, and a range of opinions are only available to those who can afford them and can receive them online.

“This skews the audience toward what Nikki Usher, a University of Illinois College of Media associate professor, calls the ‘rich, white, and blue,’ as in left-leaning,” Simon says.

Meanwhile, disinformation remains free.

Simon reminisces on newspapers, where even if it got ink on your fingers, you and anyone who had pocket money could afford them or any old magazine with Princess Diana or Oprah Winfrey on the cover. They got a hold of the news when the headlines read MAN WALKS ON MOON.

“The internet has made news and views of all kinds, from all over the world, available on screens we can keep in our pockets. But so many paywalls have pulled costly shades over those screens,” Simon concludes.

A look at the incredible work ethic of Miley Cyrus

The internationally recognized celebrity Miley Cyrus recently revealed fascinating details about her daily activities during her formative years in the spotlight.

She talked up about the extraordinarily hectic days she had when she was just 12 or 13 years old through her “Used to Be Young” TikTok series. This article digs into Miley’s hectic schedule, demonstrating the commitment and toil that contributed to her ascent to prominence.

Miley Cyrus, the star of “Hannah Montana,” demonstrated an unshakable dedication to her art even as a Disney Channel celebrity. Her normal workdays started at 5:30 in the morning and went late into the evening. Let’s look at the details of Miley’s schedule to see how it revealed her tenacious work ethic.

Miley would get up at 5:30 a.m., and her days would start at the crack of dawn. A string of commitments that would fill her day with a variety of duties and commitments began with her early start.

Miley was engaged in a series of interviews from 7:15 in the morning to 6:15 in the evening. She was given the chance to engage with her audience and present her viewpoints during this conversational marathon. Despite being young, Miley displayed exceptional charisma and professionalism during these exchanges.

Miley was able to squeeze a photo shoot for Life magazine into her busy schedule. This portion of her day provided a window into the world of fame and the media, where each moment was anticipated to have an impact.

Miley’s commitment went beyond the workweek. She put in even more time on Saturdays, starting her duties as early as 7 a.m. and keeping them going until 7:30 p.m. The grueling schedule demonstrated her unwavering dedication to her profession.

On Sundays, Miley gave herself a small break from her hectic schedule. She needed these rest periods to replenish her energies and be ready for the coming week.

As Miley once jokingly remarked, “I’m a lot of things, but lazy is not one of them,” her commitment to her profession was evident.

This thought perfectly captured her unwavering quest of greatness, especially at such a young age.

The show lasts only 90 minutes, but it’s your entire existence, which is something that people don’t really understand about touring, according to Cyrus.

“There should be an equal amount of recovery and rest if you’re performing at a specific level of intensity and quality. I believe that while I’m on tour, my ego tends to overpower other factors that must also come into play. Once that switch is turned on, it can be challenging to turn it off. I believe that teaching your ego to remain active every single night is the hardest switch for me to flip off.

The “Used to Be Young” series by Miley offered not only a window into her past but also insightful information about how she is currently thinking. Despite her fame, her decision to forgo traveling demonstrated a mature understanding of how to balance effort with rest and recovery.

Miley Cyrus worked hard to the top

Miley Cyrus’s statements mirrored a genuine comprehension of the difficulties that come with celebrity. Her understanding of the precarious equilibrium between self-care and performance shed light on the challenges encountered by artists in the entertainment business.

It was clear from Miley Cyrus’s admissions about her early working years how dedicated and devoted she was to her craft. Young individuals can draw motivation from her tale, which emphasizes the value of perseverance, professionalism, and the pursuit of perfection.

Is ‘The Idol’ Getting a Season 2?

Sam Levinson’s newest show, The Idol, premiered on June 4, 2023, after much anticipation and rumor around its debut date. The Idol had M-A-J-O-R star power behind it and was co-created and starred in by Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye alongside Lily-Rose Depp, Dan Levy, Hari Nef, Troye Sivan, and BLACKPINK’s Jennie.

The Idol fans are now asking questions like, “When is season 2 coming out, if at all?” because the season finale has long since passed. The season finale, like the show overall, sparked controversy in its own way after premiering earlier than anticipated. We’re here. Let’s get started.

First of all, is The Idol actually getting a season 2?

We’re sorry to break the bad news to any of Jocelyn’s “angels,” but an HBO representative informed Page Six that The Idol *will not* be returning for a second season after all.

“The Idol was one of HBO’s most provocative original programs, and we’re pleased by the strong audience response,” a representative for the network told the site. “HBO, the writers, the producers, and we have decided not to go on with a second season after much thinking and consideration. We appreciate the artists, actors, and crew for their fantastic effort.

“Audiences look for boundary-pushing content in HBO original programming, and The Idol certainly delivered on that front,” they continued. It became ingrained in the zeitgeist and was one of the most talked-about shows of the summer.

However, it wasn’t enough for the divisive show to be given the go-ahead for a second season. Since The Idol was initially advertised as a limited series, it is likely that there were no editorial plans to extend the plot past season 1’s five episodes. The program had some, um, not-so-great reviews, which is another aspect (and maybe the least encouraging) that determined whether it would be returning. HBO probably waited to decide on a season to see how audiences responded to it (and whether there were enough viewers).

The Idol currently only has a 19 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and several reviews have remarked on how hard the program tries to be shocking. A comment like this in Rolling Stone described it as “way, way worse than you’d have anticipated,” and a one like this in Vogue questioned whether it was “a misfire of high-budget misogyny.” A big yikes.

When would The Idol season 2 have come out?

We put our mathematical prowess to the test to determine when season 2 may have potentially premiered if it had been approved.

The Weeknd had to leave to perform at Coachella and launch his After Hours Til Dawn Tour, while director/executive producer Amy Seimetz quit the project owing to creative differences, which necessitated rewrites and reshoots for Season 1. Season 1 began filming way back in November 2021.

From the commencement of production until the first episode was shown, it took more than a year and a half in total. If season 2’s cast and crew had started filming soon after season 1 ended and it had followed a similar schedule, we might have been looking at a possible release date of the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. the more you understand!

The fall of The Idol

There was excitement when Sam Levinson, the brains of Euphoria, initially revealed The Idol.

The Weeknd, who also served as the show’s co-creator, plays the mysterious nightclub boss Tedros, who becomes connected with Jocelyn, a popstar played by Lily-Rose.

But as rumors of production issues and a “toxic atmosphere” on set surfaced, the anticipation soured.

At a pre-release press conference where Levinson promised reporters that The Idol will be the biggest show of the summer, the cast was compelled to defend the program.

That forecast proved to be a touch overly optimistic. When it finally debuted, the show received a largely negative reception.

It was criticized for being “the worst program ever made,” “toe-curlingly naff,” and having vapid characters.

On the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 19% critic rating at the moment.

White House Release Tax Returns of President and First Lady

On April 18, 2023, the deadline for Americans to file their tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service, the White House released the tax returns for President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.

President Biden and the first lady made $579,514 in 2022, somewhat less than they did the year before, according to their tax forms. The president’s $400,000 annual salary, set by Congress, and pensions made up the majority of their combined income.

A little over $5,000 was also received by the first pair from two S Corporations, CelticCapri Corp. and Giacoppa Corp., which were created to collect royalties from their writing and speaking activities. However, compared to the previous year, when they generated approximately $62,000, the income from those firms was much lower.

Additionally, the first lady made $82,335 from her employment as a teacher at Northern Virginia Community College. The president and first lady collectively paid $169,820 in income taxes to the federal, state of Delaware, and the Commonwealth of Virginia in 2017. They owed the federal government $137,658 of that, making their effective federal income tax rate 23.8%.

While this was going on, Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff earned $456,918 in the previous year, a considerable decrease from 2021 when they sold their home. The couple paid $123,908 in federal income taxes, according to their tax forms, for an effective federal income tax rate of 27.1%.

These tax filings demonstrate that Vice President Harris and President Biden are open about their financial situation and serving as role models for other political leaders. It is crucial for leaders to be transparent about their financial situation since it fosters public trust and transparency.

Tax Returns from White House Report

The couple donated $20,180 to 20 different charities in 2022, including $5,000 to the Beau Biden Foundation. The charity, named after the president’s late son, is aimed at protecting children from abuse.

The Bidens have a long history of charitable giving and supporting causes that are important to them. Other organizations that the couple gave to include the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, a group that offers support to grieving military families, as well as St. Joseph on the Brandywine, a Catholic church that the Bidens attend in Wilmington, Delaware.

Charitable giving is an important aspect of the Bidens’ personal values and their commitment to making a positive impact on society. Their donations show that they care about various causes and organizations that support people in need.

The 2022 tax returns are mostly in line with the previous year’s returns, with the Bidens earning $579,514 and paying $169,820 in combined federal, Delaware, and Virginia income taxes at a rate of 23.8%.

The returns also showed that Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff owed $93,570 in federal income taxes with an effective federal income tax rate of 20.5%.

The release of tax returns and charitable donations is crucial in demonstrating the transparency and accountability of elected officials. It provides insight into their personal finances and highlights the causes they support.

Charitable giving not only benefits the organizations that receive donations but also helps to promote philanthropy and encourages others to give back to their communities.

The Vice President and Husband

Harris and Emhoff donated a total of $23,000 to charity in 2022, according to their newly released tax returns. The donations were made to 20 different organizations, including the couple’s alma maters: Howard University and the University of Southern California, where they both earned degrees in law.

The couple gave $5,000 each to their respective universities to support student scholarships and other initiatives. Howard University, a historically Black university in Washington, D.C., has a special place in Harris’ heart as it is where she earned her undergraduate degree in political science. Similarly, Emhoff has strong ties to the University of Southern California, where he has taught as a faculty member at the law school.

In addition to their donations to higher education, Harris and Emhoff also gave to organizations focused on a variety of issues, including healthcare, civil rights, and veterans’ affairs. The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, which provides support to military families who have lost loved ones, was among the recipients, as was the American Heart Association and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

The release of Harris and Emhoff’s tax returns is part of the Biden administration’s effort to promote transparency in government. President Joe Biden has made it a priority to release his tax returns, sharing 25 years’ worth with the public.

This stands in contrast to the previous administration under President Donald Trump, who broke with decades of tradition by refusing to release his tax returns.

Trump’s tax returns eventually became public after a lengthy legal battle. They showed that the former president paid very little in federal income taxes during his first and last year in office, due to large losses that offset his tax bill.

The release of the returns also revealed other questionable financial practices, such as tax write-offs for expenses such as haircuts and consulting fees paid to his daughter, Ivanka Trump.

Burning Man Festival: Revellers begin to leave

Weather conditions at the US Burning Man festival have improved enough to allow revelers to begin leaving.

Heavy rain had turned the event in Nevada’s desert into a mud bath.

The ground is now dry enough for vehicles to drive on without becoming stuck, and photos show campervans leaving the event.

72,000 people have been left trapped at the festival, but organizers said they are preparing for a huge departure beginning Monday AM, local time.

They also revealed that a guy died during the event on Friday that was unrelated to the inclement weather.

They stated that emergency personnel were called to assist the man, who was thought to be around 40 years old, but he was unable to be resuscitated. The local sheriff’s office had previously stated that it was investigating.

The event’s traditional conclusion, the burning of an effigy, has also been moved to Monday evening, according to organizers.

The monsoon that pounded the Black Rock Desert near the end of last week is thought to be the longest and hardest since the festival’s inception more than 30 years ago.

Martyna Sowa, a dancer who had been scheduled to perform at the event, told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that she was startled by how awful the conditions had deteriorated.

Revellers were instructed to seek cover and save food, fuel, and water as part of the festival’s ethos.

However, due to the inclement weather, the portable toilet facilities were momentarily unavailable because service cars could not drive on the mud to empty them.

While many people stayed on the site, others elected to travel 5 miles (8 kilometers) through the muck to the next road. The event’s organizers prepared for buses to transport attendees from the road to Reno, but some said they had to pay for transportation or hitchhike out of the area.

Other revelers made the most of the muddy conditions, dancing in the mud and staging karaoke parties.

The desperation to leave

However, by Sunday, the excitement had been replaced by a growing sense of irritation, with individuals more eager to depart.

The rare rainstorms occurred near the end of the nine-day festival, when the largest crowds gathered to witness the grand finale – the burning of the gigantic wooden effigy.

This was supposed to happen on Sunday, but it has been pushed back by one day. Many other activities during the festival, including Ms Sowa’s, had to be canceled.

Even before the formal opening of Burning Man on August 27, it was pummeled by the leftovers of Hurricane Hilary, causing organizers to lock the gates to early arrivals.

Burning Man Festival is a well-known arts and cultural festival in which guests construct a temporary city in the middle of the desert.

The Burning Man Festival was formed in June 1986 and held for the inaugural time in 1990 in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert.

Tickets can be difficult to obtain, and festivalgoers may be required to interview in order to gain admission to popular camps and demonstrate their commitment to its values.

More than 70,000 people have been waiting to depart the Nevada desert’s Burning Man festival after heavy rain transformed the land into a swamp.

Although some people have been able to leave the location as conditions improve, others have been unable to do so, with trapped automobiles spinning their wheels in the muck.

The event’s culmination, the burning of the man, has been rescheduled for Monday.

Some revellers must go, while others simply go with the flow. However, every attendee at the 2023 Burning Man Festival has a story to tell, if not about the festival itself, it would most definitely be about their experience with the mud.
