Ryan Summer, born Ryan Crampton, is a name quickly gaining recognition in the entertainment world. The choice to adopt his mother’s maiden name as his stage name wasn’t just about branding—it was about embracing a part of his identity that feels both warm and inviting. “I’ve always preferred it as a surname,” Ryan shares. “When I moved into acting and had the chance to create a stage name, it felt right. People liked it, and I love the name, so it stuck.” This choice is emblematic of Ryan’s approach to his career—intentional, thoughtful, and deeply personal. Ryan Summer is poised to make a significant impact on the Hollywood scene. Praised by renowned industry professionals and celebrated artists alike, Summer’s charisma and talent set him apart as a figure destined for success in the U.S. entertainment landscape.
Ryan’s path to acting wasn’t a straight line. Before finding his true calling, he was a tennis player, competing across Europe and achieving a top 100 ranking in the under-16 category. “I had an amazing time, but when I couldn’t break through to the pros, I transitioned into coaching,” Ryan recalls. His coaching career took him to places like Santa Monica, where he taught at summer camps. Still, his father’s passion for filmmaking ultimately steered him towards the entertainment industry.
“My dad was an actor who wanted to move into directing,” Ryan explains. “I helped him produce a series of short films, and from that moment, I knew I wanted to be part of this industry.” The switch from the corporate world to acting wasn’t easy, but it was a decision that Ryan has never regretted. “Joining a well-known agency and starting acting classes was the best decision I ever made. I left my old life behind and fell in love with my new one as an actor.”
Since then, Ryan has built an impressive resume. His appearances on British TV staples like Emmerdale, Coronation Street, and Brassic have made him a familiar face to audiences, while his work in a national advertising campaign for Betfred has brought him even wider recognition. “Seeing my face on billboards and TV adverts, especially in my local shopping center, has been surreal,” he says with a smile. “It’s a reminder that I’m on the right path.”
One of Ryan’s significant roles has been on Emmerdale, where he was initially cast for a single episode as a “Butler in the Buff.” The role, meant to be a one-off, has turned into a recurring role on the show. Currently he’s on set filming more episodes and can’t reveal more details about his character arc.“The cast and crew are incredible to work with, and the atmosphere on set is so welcoming,” Ryan reflects. “It’s been one of the highlights of my career so far.”
But it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. Ryan’s transition from the corporate world to acting came with its own set of challenges. “After a project management contract was terminated early, I struggled financially,” he admits. “But that difficult time led me to fully commit to acting, and in the end, it was the right thing that could have happened.”
Ryan’s commitment to his craft is evident in the range and depth of the roles he’s taken on. In the short film Mr. Boz, directed by the well-known British actor/director Andy Ellis, Ryan played a cannabis dealer with a big heart. “The film is about an elderly couple using cannabis for medicinal purposes,” Ryan explains. “At first, my character is suspicious, but he hears their story and his heart melts. So many people came up to me after the screening, sharing similar stories—it made me realize how relevant this story is.”
The film’s writer was particularly impressed with Ryan’s performance, telling him, “You played the part even better than I imagined.” For Ryan, this was the ultimate compliment. “I wanted to add warmth and heart to the character, not just play a stereotypical drug dealer. If people connected with my character, then I know I did my job right.”
Ryan’s creative journey doesn’t end with acting. He’s also made a name for himself in the UK music scene as a DJ. “Like film, I love music—it’s another passion of mine,” Ryan says. “I’ve played at some amazing bars, clubs, and events. It’s something I can do alongside acting. If it’s good enough for Idris Elba, it’s good enough for me!” he adds with a laugh.
When it comes to his creative process, Ryan is all about character immersion. “For me, it’s about deeply understanding the character and the script. Once I have that, I can lose myself in the role and bring my own flavor to it,” he explains. This approach has allowed him to create memorable, nuanced characters that resonate with audiences.
Looking to the future, Ryan has big dreams. “It would be amazing to be part of a blockbuster film. I’m ready for that next step. I love TV series, but my first love is film. Well known industry professionals are interested in representing Ryan in Hollywood and he couldn’t be more excited and grateful for that opportunity.
As Ryan prepares to bring his talents to the U.S., he reflects on the serendipity of it all. A recent reconnection with an old friend in Santa Monica, who suggested he come back to LA—this time as an actor—feels like fate. “I believe I have a really different look and a natural comfort in front of the camera. I think I could do really well in TV and films there,” Ryan says confidently.
Ryan Summer’s story is one of resilience, passion, and the wisdom that what is meant for you will not pass you by. As he prepares to take the next step in his career, the entertainment industry can expect to see much more of this rising star. With his eyes set on the future, Ryan is ready to make his mark—one role at a time.
